Annual Lecture: What is the path to sustainable infrastructure?

We are in the midst of a climate and nature emergency. More and more cities are being affected by natural threats associated with the climate crisis such as flooding, heat stress and water scarcity, and these disasters are expected to intensify with no city immune.

Cities must look beyond economic development to the health of their natural environment and the quality of life of their inhabitants. They are beginning to prioritise their environment, social, and government (ESG) targets.

It is time for systemic change in climate change adaptation and resilience. Therein lies the opportunity to create a sustainable, infrastructure-led recovery that will transform economies and leave the environment in a better condition for future generations.

Watch our annual lecture to hear thought-leaders discuss the need for resilience in infrastructure and cities, and the construction industry’s response to delivering resilience across new and aging infrastructure.
